The BLUE LIGHTS is to alert other drivers that we are on our way to an emergency.
It's up to other drivers to pull over and let us go by! Please let us pass.
It could give us the extra time to save a life or stop a fire before it's out of control.
In a few minutes, these same people will be responding with a red light and siren.

Reform Temple of Putnam Valley:
This small, family-oriented congregation serves Putnam and Northern Westchester, providing religious school for preschoolers through young adults and adult education programs. The congregation is particularly sensitive to the varying needs of members; individuals raised in various Jewish traditions, Jews-by-choice and non-Jewish members of congregants' families. Temple Israel of Putnam Valley (Lake Drive, Lake Peekskill) is inaugurating a new program of “synagogue skills” learning. Rather than conduct a normal Shabbat service, we will be gathering together to study and learn for an hour or so. What we hope to do is to explore, in a relaxed and informal format, a series of key prayers and rituals that take place in synagogues around the world during Shabbat services. Our hope is that those who attend will find that they will become more comfortable with the content of the service.
This program is especially designed for anyone who is interested in learning more about what all these prayers and rituals mean but was afraid to ask! EVERYONE IS CORDIALLY INVITED.
These informal “shul” sessions will take place on the 2nd & 4th Shabbat each month until further notice.
Regular Shabbat Services are held the 1st & 3rd Saturday each month at 9:30 am

Coffee Hour Fellowship offered Sundays after the service, along with Adult Bible Studies. Confirmation Classes held in the upper classroom at 10:30 am with Pastor Bill Vangor.
Sunday School for children in grades K-5 is available throughout the school year. Classes begin on Sunday during the 9 am service - children begin with their parents at the worship service, and then are led to the classrooms after a blessing at communion. Classes end between 10:30 and 10:45 am.

Putnam Valley Historical Society Museum
Our new exhibit will open in May 2, 2015: The Early Native American People of Putnam Valley
A little preview:
Before the Europeans came, the people who lived in this area belonged to the Canopus group of the Nochpeem band of the “Wappinger Indian Confederacy”. As part of the Mohican nation, they spoke the Algonkian language.
In 1600 an estimated 4,700 members of this confederacy ranged over an area that spread from Manhattan to Poughkeepsie, along the Hudson River and extending eastward toward Connecticut.
The footpaths made by the Native Americans usually followed the stream valleys. The first settlers followed these footpaths and in the course of time, they became the roads we know today as Peekskill Hollow, Canopus Hollow and Oscawana Lake roads.

The Putnam Valley Community Food Pantry provides both perishable and non-perishable grocery items to approximately 200 families each week.
The Pantry is open every Saturday morning from 10:00 - 11:00 am and is located at 337 Peekskill Hollow Road, Putnam Valley, NY 10579.
The Putnam Valley Community Food Pantry’s mission is to increase access to food and to supply the ingredients for healthy balanced meals for struggling families in northern Westchester and Southern Putnam communities.
